Feeling Different?
Starting to eat more plant-based foods will likely open up a whole new world of foods to tantalise and excite your taste buds. But beyond that, you may also start to feel a little different.
Once you’ve started embracing a plant-based diet (even if only for a few days each week), you may start to notice, quite early on, these common benefits…
1. Better Digestion
Fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, nuts and seeds, legumes, beans and whole grains all contain fibre which is essential for a healthy digestive system. These whole foods contain natural, insoluble and soluble fibre which supports healthy digestion, keeps you regular, and helps you feel fuller for longer.
2. More Energy
Animal products put pressure on your body as they take a lot longer to break down and are a bigger strain on your digestive system. Whereas healthy whole foods take a lot less work to break down, giving you more energy and vitality.
3. Less Pain
Animal products, including eggs and dairy, are highly inflammatory for our bodies due to their acidic nature, meaning they are often the cause of pain as we age. Inflammation can present itself in many different ways, including: arthritis, diabetes, leaky gut syndrome, and even heart disease. Be conscious that sugary food, processed foods and refined grains are also inflammatory which is why we recommend sticking to fresh foods as often as possible.
4. More Stable Blood Sugar
Animal products contain insulin growth factor which promotes higher blood sugar leading to cravings, blood sugar swings (mood swings), and that shaky ‘hangry’ feeling you get if you don’t eat immediately or have skipped a meal. Plant-based protein doesn’t have this same effect, and will make you feel more satisfied and fuller for longer.
Eating plant-based foods will give you the best chance of living a long life, filled with interesting food choices that fuel your body in the best possible way!
